WASILLA — Mat-Su Central School celebrated its 2023 graduation at the Menard Sports Center Friday, May 19.
Mat-Su Central Principal Stacey McIntosh said that each student had a unique educational journey that led to equally unique outcomes.
“Mat-Su Center is a special place where embraced choice in what you learn," McIntosh said.
McIntosh said that life is full of challenges, and the recent pandemic illustrated their abilities to adapt and overcome all obstacles to achieve their goals.
“I know that many of you faced overwhelming challenges and had to work twice as hard to get across the stage today. I want to remind you that those struggles are important and the resilience you have learned from facing them will serve you well in life," McIntosh said.
Student speaker Rosana Siaulaiga said that she was proud to share this big accomplishment with her fellow graduates.
“Even though it seems too good to be true, you did it, I did it, we did it. Be proud of yourself and know that you are worthy and that the work you put in is more than just a piece of paper," Siaulaiga said. "This is the end of something good and the beginning of something great."
