Mat-Su College Juried Student Show is on exhibit in the Upstairs Gallery in the Fred and Sara Machetanz Building on campus at Mile 2 Trunk Road. Opening for the public is Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Saturday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m..
Judi Rideout, a nationally known artist from the Valley, was the juror and commented that “this is an outstanding class of students; all were very good, (and that the show) was hardest by far to judge.”
Best of Show went to Denise Reeve, whose silver metalsmith lost matter casting of a rose hair tarantula specimen called “Rosie” was the judges’ favorite. Additional prizes went to Vince Levera with his pencil drawing, “In My Dreams,” for first place and his ink drawing “Little Girl” for second place. Aiesha Peters’ “Rainbow Coils” scratch board drawing took third and James Knight’s photograph “Self-Portrait” took fourth.
