Mat-Su College and the Alaska State Fair go together like doughnuts and cheeseburgers or a wax hand with a rose. This year, Mat-Su College will proudly continue our tradition of setting up in our student-made cabin. The fair runs from August 15 to September 1, 2025 (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays). During these three fun-filled weeks, Mat-Su College will highlight our campus and the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA).
Mat-Su College's cabin is located on the red trail, right next to Hoskins Exhibit Hall. The campus will add more special days as we get closer to the start of the fair.
Here's a rundown of some special events:
On opening day, our Fine Art Department will kick things off. Professor Michelle Mishaan, a celebrated local artist and fantastic educator, will be on hand to discuss the program and answer technique questions.
August 16: The UAA College of Engineering will share info on lucrative career options and the tools for success. If you can engineer in Alaska, you can engineer anywhere!
August 17: The UAA School of Education will be on site to help future teachers with questions. Just drop by and ask away- you won’t even need to raise your hand!
August 18: Stay Warm on Buddy Day! It is Buddy Day for the fair but Mat-Su College will be showing off the opportunities in the Refrigeration and heating.
August 21: UAA will join us to talk about Nursing and other health related fields.
August 23: We'll focus on Mat-Su College's Financial Aid opportunities. Our advisors will show you how to make education affordable and reveal the "treasure" available to you.
August 25: UAA College of Arts and Sciences will be at the cabin.
August 29: It's AARP Day at the fair! We'll have info on how Alaskans over 65 can attend college tuition-free. What a great deal!
September 1: On the final day of the fair, we'll feature our future first responders. Join us for demonstrations and lifesaving information.
