Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

MAT-SU — Mat-Su College Fine Arts Coordinator Suzanne Bach will retire this spring after 10 years of service. Among her accomplishments, is facilitating the formation of the Fine Arts Advisory Council in 2009, the “Tie The Knot, Community and College” fundraiser in 2010, and founding the Machetanz Art Festival in 2011, which continues this year on June 2.
Bach was honored during her class April 25 with a surprise party given by some of her students. The next day, the Director Talis Colberg’s office also celebrated with a retirement party for her.
Bach said her plans include traveling on the West Coast during the summer and attending the National Square Dance Convention in Spokane, Wash.
She said she also plans to produce a play in October for Breast Cancer Awareness month titled “The Cost of Living,” by Catherine Stadem. And she said she will continue to volunteer at Mat-Su College with the Machetanz Art Festival.
