MY House is proud to announce it has accepted a transformative three-year, $4.38 million grant from the Mat-Su Health Foundation (MSHF).
This significant investment will fund critical ramp-up costs, staffing, and organizational infrastructure, allowing MY House to fully operate its new 33,000-square-foot Carson-Cottle Center. The funding strengthens core administrative capacity ensuring MY House is prepared to meet increasing demand and continue to serve vulnerable youth with excellence and accountability.
The Carson-Cottle Center, scheduled to begin operations in December 2026, represents a major expansion in services for homeless and at-risk youth in the Mat-Su Valley. The facility is designed to offer a comprehensive, forward-looking approach to housing, recovery, workforce development, and prevention.
“We are incredibly grateful to have received this funding from the Mat-Su Health Foundation,” said Michelle Overstreet, MY House CEO. “This grant allows us to build critical infrastructure in anticipation of the completion of the Carson-Cottle Center...supporting expanded services for homeless youth and our community.”
The Carson-Cottle Center Café is the heart of the new project, offering daily meals for MY House residents while serving as a welcoming public café. Beyond food, it’s a hands-on training hub where youth build career skills in a professional commercial kitchen. Rooted in MY House’s belief that "food is love," the Café ensures every young person feels valued, cared for, accepted, and prepared for a bright future.
“Mat-Su Health Foundation is proud to support MY House as they expand their capacity to serve some of our community’s most vulnerable youth,” said Esther Pitts, President and CEO, Mat-Su Health Foundation.
The Mat-Su Health Foundation’s support aims to fill critical gaps in the behavioral health continuum of care and provide safety, stability, and security for local youth. “The Carson-Cottle Center represents a comprehensive, forward-looking approach to housing, recovery, workforce development, and prevention. This new resource will fill gaps in our behavioral health continuum of care and provide safety, stability, and security so our youth can thrive.”
“The process of working with the MSHF team has been very positive and encouraging, and this effort is truly a testament to the life-changing work our community can accomplish when we work together,” said Overstreet.
The new facility will include a job-training hub that mirrors real-world industry standards, reinforcing MY House's mission that every young person deserves to feel accepted, valued, and cared for.
