WASILLA— The Mat-Su Jewish Center is hosting an online fundraising campaign Wednesday, July 21 to make improvements to the campus, inviting the public to participate and help them achieve their financial goal.

“You have the chance to join the Mat-Su Jewish Center in writing the next chapter of its future. You can make these vital upgrades a reality, creating a safer home for your community to continue to grow,” Mat-Su Jewish Center Director, Rabbi Mendy Greenberg stated in a recent press release.

Campus improvements include expanding the plot of land and putting in a safer and more accessible road to access the Center.

The online campaign starts Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. with a 36-hour goal to raise $120,000. Donations will be triple matched for every dollar raised.

“Your support will ensure that access to the Jewish center is safe for all, even during the winter months. The time is now, to ensure completion of the road before the snow comes.

The purchase of the lot needs to be done now, and the need for easier access is growing every

day. Your generosity will provide easier and safer access and help our programs continue to inspire, connect, and grow our community,” Greenberg stated in the press release. “Right now, there is a steep twisting driveway to reach the Jewish Center. We have a unique, time-sensitive opportunity to upgrade the safety and functionality of the outdoor space at the Mat-Su Jewish Center. The lot next door is available and purchasing it will help us improve access to the Center with a weather-safe road and additional parking.”

The Center was established in 2015. Greenberg stated that it’s become a community center for the Valley that supports locals in a variety of ways year-round.

“In six short years, we’ve created vital programs that inspire, connect and build connections for everyone in the Valley. The annual Chanukah celebrations, accredited adult learning courses, and preschool are just some of the many programs that connect families in the Valley,” Greenberg said. “Together, let’s create space for our community to grow. With young children playing together in the preschool, children learning at the after-school STEAM club, preteens preparing for their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, and adults exploring their heritage through our varied classes and programs, the Mat-Su Jewish Center is a spiritual home for all in the Mat-Su Valley. Your generosity today will help us continue growing together.”
