WASILLA — A Mat-Su man is in custody facing multiple charges of sexual abuse of a minor.
Robert Akens, 66, was indicted by a grand jury on one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the first degree and two counts of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, according to an online dispatch posted by the Alaska State Troopers early Tuesday evening.
The charges follow the initial report received by AST on Aug. 3, 2018. According to AST, Akens was allegedly, “having inappropriate contact with foster children in his care.”
Multiple potential victims were interviewed at the Children’s Place in Wasilla, according to AST.
“Sexual abuse was disclosed,” troopers said in the release.
Akens was arrested on Tuesday. Bail is set at $50,000 cash appearance, $50,000 cash performance and PED monitoring.
