WASILLA — Mat-Su Middle College celebrated its 2023 graduation at the Menard Sports Center Tuesday, May 16.
Class speaker Hannah Daniel praised the various staff members for their guidance and ceaseless support.
"Your eagerness to get to know each student on a personal level has allowed this school to be a safe haven and a welcoming environment," Daniel said.
Daniel also thanked all the family members for their endless love and care.
"We couldn't have made it to where we are without each of you. Whether it being rearranging your busy schedules to drop us off at school or simply listening to how our day went, I want to thank you for your dedication to us, and I hope you know how much we appreciate you,"
As Daniels addressed her fellow graduates, she urged them to remember to live in the moment.
"While we should all be excited to go off into the future and learn about ourselves and gain new first experiences, I would like to encourage you not to live too far in the future," Daniel said. "Take the time you have and the people you have now and cherish it. Spend time with the ones you love and tell them how much they mean to you. Don't get so wrapped up in planning about the future that you forget about the wonderful things that you have in the present."
Master of Ceremonies Megan Rindal said they all have a lot to be excited for.
"After today we will be heading off into the world following our paths and pursuing our own dreams," Rindal said. "No matter where life may take you or what challenges you may face, with continued hard work and perseverance you will be able to accomplish greatness."
