PALMER — The Mat-Su Miners are among the top 50 summer collegiate baseball teams ranked by Perfect Game USA. The Miners, who finished second in the Alaska Baseball League, are ranked 45th according to Perfect Game, a publication recognized among the top writers covering amateur baseball. Mat-Su finished 23-17 overall.
Perfect Game also listed catcher Adam Martin, a Western Carolina product, as the Miners’ top prospect from the 2011 team.
“(Martin) has legit raw power,” according to the publication.
Martin won the ABL’s home run derby in July.
The Miners were led by head coach Brian Yocke.
The ABL champion Peninsula Oilers earned a top 10 bid on the list. The Oilers are ranked 10th overall after finishing 36-17.
