Buzzer-beater lifts Knights

Cade Dickey hit a 19-foot jumper at the buzzer to give the Colony Knights a 53-52 win over Lathrop on Friday in Fairbanks.

The Knights got out to a 15-10 lead in the first quarter, but a Lathrop 15-9 second quarter run gave the Malemutes a one-point halftime lead.

Dickey led the Knights with 19 points in the contest. Rhett Magner scored nine and Ricky Cunningham added eight.

Knights complete sweep

Colony used a 59-55 win over North Pole Saturday to complete a three-day, three-game sweep of its Fairbanks foes.

Cunningham had a monster game in the post, recording 18 points and 16 rebounds for Colony. Magner and Dickey scored 14 points each.

Colony improved to 6-5 with the win.

Wasilla defeats Lathrop

Matt Crane scored 11 of his game-high 21 points during a 15-12 Wasilla first-quarter run to lead the Warriors to a 57-48 win over Lathrop on Saturday.

Jesse Bean hit three three-pointers and scored 14 points for Wasilla (3-8). Luke Schafer added 13.

The Warriors dropped a 53-48 decision to second-ranked West Valley in Fairbanks on Friday.

Lathrop shocks Wasilla

The Lathrop girls defeated Wasilla 49-41 on Saturday in Fairbanks.

Hillarie Putnam led the Warriors with a game-high 19 points. Lathrop did not allow another Warrior to score more than six points.

Sheena Brown and Sarah States each scored 14 to lead Lathrop.

Knight girls upset Lathrop

Colony knocked off Lathrop, the second-ranked team in the 4A girls class, 53-50 on Friday.

The Knights trailed by four at the half, but used an 18-12 run in the third quarter to gain the win.

Kate Baldwin led the Knights with 20 points. Kelcy Joynt scored 13 and Haley Hotchkiss added 10 points.

Patriots defeat Colony

North Pole earned a 41-30 win over the visiting Knights on Saturday.

Kelsey McIntosh led the Pats with 14 points.
