As 2021 draws to a close, I want to take the opportunity to thank the Mat-Su community for its support. Unquestionably, it has been an incredibly challenging year. Just when we thought the dread of COVID was almost behind us, it reemerged with even greater fury--testing our resolve as a community, and our resources as a healthcare organization; stretching and pulling us individually and collectively.
Throughout the onslaught of the most recent COVID surge, we were buoyed by the heartfelt notes and calls of encouragement from community members and patients expressing their appreciation for the work we are doing. These kindnesses helped us persevere.
I also want to share with the community the tremendous work our team has done this year – overcoming enormous challenges to deliver safe, quality healthcare.
As eager as we all are to put COVID behind us, it’s important to memorialize what we have experienced. In hindsight, we have seen the incredible capacity of our healthcare workers to endure hardship, fatigue, overcome adversity, support one another, and to care for our patients and community with compassion, tenderness, clinical excellence and humility. I’m so proud of our hospital.
The holiday season is the perfect time to express our gratitude. I count among my blessings the wonderful employees and physicians who serve our community at Mat-Su Regional. I am grateful for the extraordinary job they have done this year. I am also grateful for all the patients and their families who have entrusted Mat-Su Regional with their care. It is our privilege to be here serving you – our community.
