PALMER — It started as a road game, but the Mat-Su Miners will wrap up Thursday’s scheduled contest at their home ballpark Friday afternoon.
Mat-Su’s game against the Anchorage Bucs Thursday evening at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage was suspended due to rain in the fourth inning. The Miners were already scheduled to host the Bucs at Hermon Brothers Friday at 6 p.m. To ensure the Alaska Baseball League rivals complete the game prior to the end of the regular season, Thursday’s game will be resumed Friday at 4 p.m. The teams will continue in the fourth inning and play only a seven-inning contest.
Sunday marks the end of the league’s regular season. Mat-Su (19-11 in league play) has already clinched the ABL Northern Division title and will play the American Division winner in the upcoming ABL Top of the World Series for the league championship. Anchorage (17-13) sits in second place of the ABL American Division, four games behind the Alaska Goldpanners. With five games left, the Bucs are still mathematically alive for the division title.
