Mat-Su School Board meetings will be closed to the public until further notice due to COVID-19 concerns, but residents can testify by telephone.
“Our school board will be closing our school board meetings to face-to-face public testimony,” Mat-Su Borough School District Superintendent Dr. Monica Goyette said during a video update Tuesday afternoon.
Telephonic testimony will be available for agenda and non-agenda items
Goyette said the school board will meet weekly.
“The board is meeting each week so they can expedite business decisions that need to be made, and to stay connected with our public,” Goyette said.
Those interested in testifying must contact the district at 746-9200 by 3 p.m. the day of the meeting. The next meeting is April 8 at 6 p.m.
Goyette also announced Tuesday that the closure of district schools includes playground equipment.
“It’s difficult by the nature of its design to maintain social distancing, and the surfaces are not being maintained, routinely disinfected,” Goyette said.
