PALMER — The Mat-Su Ski Club hosted the final race of its cross-country ski season, the Race to the Outhouse, April 5 at the Government Peak Recreation Area near Palmer.
Dave Knopp won the men’s 7.5-kilometer freestyle race, clocking a time of 20 minutes and 7 seconds. Annika Hamestad won the women’s race, finishing at 25:12, five seconds faster than Hellen Wilson.
Mat-Su Ski Club members will continue to groom the Government Peak Recreation Area trails as long as snow conditions permit, according to an email sent to the Frontiersman, and then shift grooming efforts to Archangel Road, where they expect to groom the road until June.
