Pro wrestling coming to Colony Friday
The National Wrestling Alliance professional wrestling is coming to Colony High School at 7 p.m., Friday, sponsored by the Colony Knights Boosters as a fund-raiser for the football team.
Main event will be an NWA Midsouth title match featuring “The Human Highlight Reel” Austin Lane against Midsouth Idol Derrick King. NWA is also working on adding former ECW champion, TNA XDivision and WWE Lightweight champion Jerry Lynn for a possible three-way main event. Semi-main event is a tag-team match featuring Ft. Richardson’s own Chainsaw Charlie and Wasilla’s own AK Lighting taking on MK 2 and Atomic Dog. The feature match is for the Alaska State Heavyweight Title.
Adult tickets are $10, while students grades five through 12 get in for $5. Younger children admitted free with paid adult. Tickets can be purchased through members of the Colony Knights Boosters, Colony football coaches and members of the team.

Palmer Little League is hosting registration for baseball and softball players Wedbesday at Palmer Junior Middle School from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and April 9 at Palmer High School from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Palmer Little League is hosting a free open gym clinic Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Palmer Junior Middle School.
This is for all competitive baseball and softball players ages 9-15 who are eligible for majors and juniors divisions. Players must be registered to participate in open gym.

The three-day workshop is for trail enthusiasts, planners, managers and builders who want to learn new skills and techniques and test out the latest equipment, network and share ideas. Palmer Little League is hosting tryouts for baseball and softball players April 9 at Palmer High School.

Wasilla Youth Baseball registration ongoing

Makeup tryouts for players ages 11-12 and 13-14 are slated for April 9 from 10 a.m. to noon at Teeland Middle School. Players can also register before the tryouts.
Registration for the 11-14 age group ends April 9 after the tryouts. Registration for ages 4-10 ends April 14.
The season begins May 7.
Why Not Tri registration begins Friday
Registration begins April 1 for the Why Not Tri triathlon, which is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Aug. 6 at Wasilla High School. It’s a great beginner’s triathlon that features a 400-meter swim, a 9-mile bike ride and a 5-kilometer run. Entry fee is $45 for solo competitors and $90 for teams. Flyball competition is April 10
Valley Canine Camp and Training Center in Wasilla will offer a flyball competition from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., April 10. Flyball is a fast-paced and exciting sport with teams of four dogs that compete in relay races. Each dog jumps over four hurdles, triggers a spring-loaded box, catches a ball and returns over the hurdles. Dogs of a variety of sizes and types will compete. Miners host Grand Slam Raffle
The Mat-Su Miners are hosting their annual Grand Slam Raffle April 30 at Raven Hall on the Alaska State Fairgrounds.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the drawing starts at 8:30. The 29th annual raffle features $15,450 worth of total prizes. Each ticket is $100 and only 400 will be sold. The 400th ticket drawn at the raffle will net the holder $10,000.
One ticket admits two people to the raffle, which also includes free food and beverages to ticket holders. Ticket holders also recieve a 2011 season pass for Mat-Su home games. For tickets, call 745-6401.
Baseball umpires needed
The Matanuska Baseball Umpires Association is loking for anyone over the age of 18 who would be interested in working high school baseball games during the month of May.
