Palmer boys split with Sitka
The Palmer Moose boys squad split a pair of games at Sitka High School last weekend.
The Moose opened the series with a 41-38 win over the Wolves.
David Doerr led the Moose with 16 points and scored five of his team's 10 points in the fourth quarter. Doerr hit a pair of key three-pointers in the game.
Willie Ratcliff added seven points for Palmer.
The following night Sitka earned a 41-37 win over the visiting Moose.
Aaron Kohring scored 10 points, while Ratcliff added nine for Palmer.
The Moose return home and will host Region III rival Kodiak in a pair of games, starting tonight.
Wolves sweep Moose girls
The Sitka Wolves earned a pair of nonconference wins over visiting Palmer last week.
The Wolves defeated the Moose 48-29 in the opener. Kim Dodson led Sitka with 27 points. Brittany Heck and Cambria Houtte each scored eight points for Palmer.
After scoring just one point in the Wolves' first win over Palmer, Natalia Potrzaski scored 25 points in a 62-42 win over Palmer the following day.
Leslie Berberich scored 10 points to lead Palmer.
Houston hockey earns weekend split
The Houston Hawks earned a win and a loss last weekend.
The Hawks earned an 18-1 win over Nikiski on the Kenai Peninsula on
Friday.
On Saturday the 3A Hawks dropped a 4-0 decision to South Anchorage, one of the top teams at the 4A level on Saturday.
