Warrior girls win
The Wasilla girls' basketball squad earned a 56-32 nonconference win over the West Eagles at Wasilla High School on Wednesday.
Warrior captain Megan Stearman scored eight of her game-high 20 points in the first quarter as Wasilla jumped out to a 19-10 lead. The stingy Warrior defense held West to just single digits in scoring in both the second and third quarters.
Sophomore Hillarie Putnam added 10 points for Wasilla.
Mindy John led West with 11 points.
West tops Wasilla boys
The Wasilla Warrior boys suffered a 67-44 nonconference loss to West, the defending 4A state champions at Wasilla High School on Friday,
Senior center Luke Schafer led the Warriors with nine points. Fellow senior Robbie Champion added eight points.
Ramon Harris led West with 15 points.
Chugiak girls
defeat Palmer
The Chugiak Mustang girls defeated Palmer 66-42 at Palmer High School on Wednesday.
Kelsey Griffin scored 26 points to lead the Mustangs. Sarah Neaschander added 14.
Leslie Berberich scored 14 points to lead Palmer. Dani Cox added nine points.
Chugiak led 37-24 at halftime.
