WASILLA — Toastmasters provides a multitude of benefits to its members. Members who have spent some time coming to the meetings, will tell you that they have seen tremendous growth in not only themselves, but in the other members. Local Certified Public Accountant Ron Morgan received the ACS award for his work on personal growth and achievement. We applaud his accomplishments.
Angela Ritchey also has received many awards for her accomplishments, and has the privilege of giving the member his/her award.
Another member who has taken many steps in Toastmasters, is Linda Block. Most recently, she received awards during the local and area club competitions and won first place at the Yukon Alaska Council of Toastmasters Conference in Whitehorse in April.
Block said she learned a lot about leadership at the conference, including gaining confidence in her own skills.
“I have grown; thank you, Toastmasters,” Block said.
Toastmasters is focused on “self-improvement” — setting goals and meeting them; speaking comfortably in front of others; listening skills; and leadership, not only in our Toastmasters’ club, but in the community.
Other huge benefits to Toastmasters are an increase in self-confidence as well as “growing” as a person.
Ritchey also attained the Competent Leadership and Advanced Communicator Bronze awards to Linda Block and Cheryl Puryear.
The Mat-Su Toastmasters Club meets from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., Tuesdays at the Primrose Retirement Center in Wasilla.
