Matt had something to offer, too

To the editor:

Really, Rep. Lynn Gattis! “A productive life?” I don’t think so! “His best friend!” Could someone explain that kind of friendship to me?

How could Lynn say these things in front of the dead boy’s parents? Maybe Lynn should resign her elected “job” with the state so she can visit her “productive” son in prison. She could make up for the time she coulda, woulda, shoulda spent with him as a child. Then we (the taxpayers) wouldn’t be paying for his lodging for the next 16 years. It should have been longer!

Lynn, you said, “We have a bigger picture and we as mothers can do a lot more. … Everybody’s son is useful, important. … I think Robin does have something he can offer, in time, with treatment.”

Really! I’ll bet Matt had something to offer! At least he was in college! Guess he didn’t have good taste in friends. Treatment? Where does she think he’s going, camp? So, a rough childhood, a problem with rules and regulations, a bright kid, residential treatment — odd.

“Waiting for you and dad’s tired asses to die, so I can laugh on your graves! He thought a lot of what his mother was trying to do was serve her own image and bolster her own reputation!”

Well, she did that, didn’t she? And she is making decisions regarding our futures and our children’s future!

I don‘t think her son gets it: “If Matt, were here, he would want to see me get out young and make something of myself.”

Really? I don’t think so. As Matt’s mom pointed out, “He’s in a box!” A friend? … Worthless human being!”

So where was dad? Flying the friendly skies?

“Robin has made a multitude of poor choices,” he said.

That would be like staying out too late, right? Assaulting his dad, right?

“Blown out of proportion? … With therapy and treatment, a productive member of society.”

Right! I’ll bet Matt could have, too, if he wasn’t dead!
