Matthew “Matt” Allen Marple
Matthew “Matt” Allen Marple, age 52, passed away in Wasilla, Alaska on October 31st, 2021, surrounded by his family. His passing will be mourned by many.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 13th, 2021, (1:00pm) at Big Lake Baptist Church, 10864 W Parks Hwy, Big Lake, AK 99652.
Matt said he had no fear of holding newborn babies and loved children because if he would not sit still in church his mom would make him work in the nursery.
Matt was born to Allen and Beverly Marple who raised him and his younger sister Eve to be amazing people with faith, morals, loyalty, responsibility, and love. He was a lifelong Alaskan and loved the outdoors. He had a great smile and made friends with everyone he met. He would come home from the gas station with someone’s phone number that he struck up a conversation with at the pumps. He loved to talk about shared experiences and interests with anyone especially if the experiences had anything to do with flying, airplanes, fishing, hunting, snow machines, or heavy equipment. His kids would giggle when driving past anything with wings or equipment because he could not control himself and would turn to look. We used to call Matt the “The human compass” and “Mr. prepared” because he always knew where he was and always prepared to be there…dry socks and toilet paper in a zip lock bag.
Matt met his wife, Eva at his sister’s wedding at Big Lake Baptist Church in 1991, started dating in 1993 and they were married in 1998 on a beach in Negril, Jamaica. He was a loving husband with a fantastic sense of humor, always ready to hear or share a distasteful joke. Matt pushed his children but often said that he was proud and loved them unconditionally. He and his family resided in Houston, Alaska where he had friends and neighbors that were more like family. His best friend, Larry Stafford moved next door to him ensuring this was to be his forever home. Matt started a business at home a couple of years ago and was planning to expand over the next couple of years. He liked working close to home so he could be close to family.
Matt is survived by his wife, Eva, and his children, Mandy, Brian, and Taylor. Also 5 grandchildren, Alexis, Serenity, Memphis, Ayralyn and a granddaughter due in a couple of months, his mother Beverly Marple, sister Eve Brueggeman, brother-in-law Mike Brueggeman, nieces, and nephews, Kade, Kolten, Edenrose and Destiny. Matt also has aunts, uncles and cousins that live outside of Alaska that he had hoped to spend more time with.
