Margaret “Sue” Riem, 83 died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at Mat Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer.
Preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Riem, and daughter, Debra Riem, she is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Kathy Riem of Oklahoma; granddaughter and fiancé, Misti Forrest and Lee Neudecker of Alaska; grandson and wife, Jason and Jennifer Riem of Oklahoma; great-grandson, Janson Riem of Oklahoma; brothers, Eddie Miller and Norman Miller, both of Oklahoma; sisters, Fern Chapman, Joy Weaver, Jackie Coble and Patsy Youngblood, all of Oklahoma; Sammy, her loyal canine companion; nieces, nephews, cousins, grand and great-grandnieces and nephews, friends and loved ones, all of whom were dear to her heart.
She was born Margaret Sue Miller Sept. 16, 1922, in Brinkman, Okla., to William and Willie Bell Miller of Russell, Okla. She was fifth of 16 children to William Daniel Miller of Mississippi and the first of 12 to Willie Bell Chisum of Greer County, Okla. Sue married Herbert L. Riem in 1940, and gave birth to H. Daniel Riem in 1944 and Debra L. Riem in 1947. She was a licensed practical nurse prior to coming to Alaska to homestead the Goose Creek area in 1959. She was an active member in many community groups throughout her years in the Upper Susitna Valley. He activities included SHE-MON-SUN Homemakers, Ladies Auxiliary, Upper Susitna Senior's Center, voter poll volunteer, Talkeetna Christian Center, Talkeetna Baptist Church and Church of Jesus Christ Willow Ward. Sue's love, joy and strength from her faith in God emanated and surrounded all who knew her. Sue truly loved people and her life affected many.
Graveside services will be Saturday, May 27 at 11:30 a.m. at Talkeetna Baptist Church, Mile 3.5 Talkeetna Spur Road. Following will be Sue's social a memorial pot luck celebration of life at the Upper Susitna Senior Center, Mile 98 Parks Highway. In lieu of flowers, please send gift donations to either of the following:

EUGENE JOHN CANCELLO
Eugene John Cancello, 57, passed away at his home in Palmer on May 18, 2006.
He was born July 28, 1948, in Los Banos, Calif., and had been a member of the Army Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery.
He came to Alaska in 1991, living in Chugiak and most recently Palmer. He worked for statewide Door and Glass from 2001 to 2006, Riverside Glass, in Spokane, Wash., in 2000, and Glass Sash & Door from 1991 to 1998.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Selkirk Cancello of Palmer; son, Scott Cancello of Chico, Calif.; daughters, Jessica Robinson of Chico and Heather Leeds of San Pablo, Calif.; and sister, Joan Rocha of Los Banos, Calif.
A private family service will be in Chico.
Valley Funeral Home of Wasilla is assisting the family.
JOHN GREGORY KNAPP
John Gregory Knapp, 26, of Palmer, died May 20, 2006.
A memorial service is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, May 25, 2006, at Lazy Mountain Bible Church.
