ROWENA M. ‘ROW' POTTS
Rowena M. Potts, 39, was born in San Diego, Calif., as Rowena Monika Randall on May 18, 1967. Her family moved to Anchorage when she was 7. She attended Chugiak High School in Eagle River, and also lived in North Birchwood from 1976 to 1988.
“Row,” as everybody knew her, was married in 1987 to John Potts. Together they had two wonderful children, Adam and Kathryn. They resided in Anchorage and Eagle River, then moved to Wasilla seven years ago, where she home-schooled their children. Rowena has been very active in her children's activities like soccer, Sea Cadets and dancing.
Her love of family was evident to all; she took her children's friends in as if they were her own. She was “Momma” to most of them. Rowena continuously put others' needs in front of her own.
Rowena loved her friends and family wholeheartedly without bias. She thoroughly enjoyed cooking and entertaining for the family gatherings, The more, the merrier. She was active in the church, and dedicated her life accordingly.
Rowena was loved by many and will be sorely missed by all the lives she touched. Her almost 20-year marriage to John was strong and loving; they were extremely devoted to each other.
“The world is a lesser place without you, ‘Row,' We will always love you. God Bless.”
She died May 23, 2006 at Alaska Regional Hospital. A memorial service is planned for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday May 30 at the Wasilla Christian Church, 2201 S. Knik-Goose Bay Road in Wasilla. The Rev. Jason Winters will officiate.
She is survived by her husband, John of Wasilla; son, John “Adam” Potts; and daughter, Kathryn E. Potts, all of Wasilla; and brothers, Ronny Randall and his wife Shelly of Anchorage, and Randy Randall of Wasilla; sister, Ranee Nichols of Hershey, Neb.; and grandmother, Ida Randall of Wasilla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Ingrid Randall; and grandfather, Ole Randall.
The family prefers that there be no flowers at the service.
Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
