Mayor Cottle evidently does not understand sales tax

To the editor:

Mayor Bert Cottle evidently does not understand sales tax. His comment of charging people, and kicking people out of the park makes me sick. Who does he think is paying for the use of the park? I'll tell you, it is the 90,000 Mat-Su Borough residents that purchase our food, gas, and other goods in his town. Not only that we the borough residents are paying the Wasilla 3 mill property tax so Wasilla residents enjoy all their services for free through sales tax. To Mayor Cottle: reinstall the 3 mill property tax on your constituency, remove the Wasilla sales tax, then you can spread your "get off my lawn" to people that don’t live in Wasilla. One more word on this subject. Charging sales tax on basic food items is another thing that sickens me to the core. I hope Mayor Cottle enjoys his paycheck by taxing my food off my dinner table, while I live on a fixed income.
