To the editor:
When he was an MEA board member, Aaron Downing threatened dissenters with litigation. It was Downing and his cronies who forced MEA into the position of building a power plant in the first place. He also made a motion recently to give cell phone companies the power of eminent domain, so that they can do as they wish to our neighborhoods.
Now Downing is proposing we abandon the progress our MEA cooperative has made in building an integrated electrical system to meet the needs of our rapidly growing Mat-Su.
The member-customers of MEA have never had it so good. While prices will always fluctuate with the price of fuel, MEA has never been in better hands.
Please be sure to re-elect our dedicated, experienced and hard-working MEA board members: Kit Jones, Janet Kincaid and Peter Burchell. These three came to the board with very strong credentials. Their experience is critical to bringing our new power plant on line.
