PALMER — The Matanuska Electric Association’s board of directors Tuesday elected Lois Lester to serve as president.
Lester, who hails from Eagle River, thanked the board for choosing her and said she would strive, “to be true to the MEA members.”
Lester is serving her third term on the board, having been first elected in 2000. According to an MEA press release, she is the longest serving member currently on the board.
Also chosen as officers were David Glines, of Eagle River, to serve as Vice President and Peter Burchell, of Wasilla, to serve as Secretary/Treasurer.
The board elects its officers after each yearly election to serve one-year terms.
Tuesday also saw the swearing in of Burchell to a new term and of Janet Kincaid. Both were elected March 1. Kincaid won the seat previously held by outgoing president Lee Jordan.
Burchell and Glines thanked Jordan Tuesday for his years of service and lamented the fact that nobody had thought to prepare him a plaque or other recognition.
