MAT-SU -- Matanuska Electric Association board members, last week, agreed by a split vote to hold any meetings set for April, May and June at 7 p.m.
The motion, made by board member Michael Janecek, passed by a 4-2 vote, but not without discussion. Board member Bill Folsom said when the board had elected to meet at 7 p.m. in February and March, he didn't see a change in attendance.
"When we met at seven, I don't think there was any difference in the average number of people that came," Folsom said, adding that Chugach Electric Association meets at 4 p.m. "If we start having 7 p.m. meetings and they run as long as this meeting …"
The April 8 meeting at which Folsom spoke started at 4 p.m. and ran past 9 p.m.
The motion passed with board members Folsom and Linda Shattuck in opposition.
