WASILLA — Matanuska Electric Association is hosting a ‘Spotlight on Safety’ contest for fourth graders, it announced on Thursday.
All fourth graders living in the MEA service area are eligible to submit entries in three categories: written content, visual content, and “wild card” content.
Submissions should convey a message about electrical safety.
Cash prizes go to three finalists in each category. A grand prize winner will be awarded a party for 10 at the Extreme Fun Center in Wasilla.
“The safety of both our employees and members is a priority at MEA,” said director of external affairs Julie Estey. “We are excited to build on the success of our existing education programs like the Power Pledge Challenge and Safety City and add a new way for youth to engage in making smart choices about electricity.”
The deadline for submissions is March 31. Contest winners will be announced at the annual MEA meeting on April 25 at Raven Hall on the Alaska State Fairgrounds.
