Meadow Lakes man charged with sexual exploitation of a minor

WASILLA — Federal authorities say a man went to a Wasilla hotel July 22 intending to have sex with what he believed was a woman and her 8-year-old daughter.

Instead, Justin Nekeferoff, 24, of Meadow Lakes, met several law enforcement officers, who arrested him and charged him with charges of sexual exploitation of a minor for attempted coercion and enticement of a minor in U.S. District Court. Nekeferoff later admitted to having sex with two 15-year-old girls as an adult, according to a complaint filed in federal court. Nekeferoff works for a North Slope company, according to court records.

Authorities filed a federal indictment against Nekeferoff Wednesday, August 19.

Police and federal officials began investigating Nekeferoff in April after an unidentified woman told police Nekeferoff had child pornography on his phone and after she provided police with printed text message exchanges in which Nekeferoff discusses sex with minor children.

An undercover FBI agent reached Nekeferoff on Facebook on June 8. For several months, culminating in Nekeferoff’s June 8 arrest, Nekeferoff and the undercover agent exchanged Internet messages and then sexually explicit texts about sex acts, and discussed the possibility of meeting, according to the charging documents.

Nekeferoff and the undercover agent eventually set up a meeting at the hotel. When arrested, officers say Nekeferoff carried a gun, a white plastic bag, a wallet and a phone.

Nekeferoff told officer the bag contained icing because “they didn’t have chocolate syrup.”

Nekeferoff’s last contact with the court system occurred in 2012, when police charged him with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Those charges were later dismissed.

Nekeferoff remained in Anchorage Jail Thursday afternoon.
