If you still want to do your part to help clean the Valley's roadways, there is another chance to do it, as the Meadow Lakes community is gearing up for a weekend of picking up trash.
The Meadow Lakes cleanup is scheduled for this weekend. Cleaning the area presents some challenges, organizers said.
"The Parks Highway is a difficult stretch to clean, obviously, because of the fast traffic it gets on the weekends," said Rod Ewing, one of the event organizers.
This is the fifth year of the cleanup effort, Ewing said, and each year he has noticed the work pays off with reduced amount of trash.
"It's been great. We've literally filled Dumpster after Dumpster in the past," Ewing said. "Each year you see a little less trash than the year before, so it is working.
"Of course, this year the wind has certainly changed the amount of trash we've seen though," Ewing said.
Getting out and helping is something that can make the entire Valley look better.
"If all the communities got out and did it for a weekend, we could get this Valley looking good," Ewing said.
