Matanuska Electric Association (MEA) members will select one lucky young soloist or group to perform at MEA’s “Kids Day at the Ballpark” events during the co-op’s second-annual “MEA’s Got Talent” competition.
According to Julie Estey, MEA director of external affairs, young singers and musicians 18-years old and under and dependents of an active MEA member, are eligible to enter the competition. Estey said participants will be judged on submitted video entries.
“We are excited to showcase the talented youth in our service territory during our Kids Day at the Ballpark events,” Estey said. “Last year’s competition was a big hit with both competitors and members and we look forward to another great competition.”
Estey said all entries must be submitted by Friday, June 9. She explained three finalists will be selected from the entries and posted to the MEA YouTube channel on June 12, where members will be able to vote on their favorite submissions. She explained the video with the most ‘likes’ by Thursday, June 15 at noon will be determined the winner of the competition.
MEA Kids Day will be marked at two games this summer--the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks on June 28 and the Mat-Su Miners on July 22. Estey said the winning soloist or group will also receive a $100 cash prize.
