About Francia: Dominick Francia is in his first season with the Mat-Su Miners. The 5-foot-11, left-hander is a native of Mobile, Ala. Francia is the second member of his family to wear the Miners’ green and gold. His uncle David Francia, a former South Alabama player, competed for the Miners during the 1995 season.
At Louisiana-Lafayette: Francia appeared in six games as a freshman. The multi-sport standout at St. Paul’s Episcopal High School in Mobile was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 46th round of the 2010 MLB Draft.
With the Miners: Francia is off to a strong start, batting .344 in the first 10 games of the season. Francia currently leads the Miners with nine runs scored and is second on the team with 11 hits. Francia has also driven in four runs.
