Longtime Palmer resident Mrs. Melba L. Long died Sept. 6, 2001, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. She was 82 years old.
Mrs. Long was born in Sapulpa, Okla., on Sept. 8, 1918, and moved to Alaska in June 1960. She had resided in Palmer since 1969.
Mrs. Long is survived by her son, Dale Long; daughter-in-law, Carole Long; and grandchildren, Jason Long and Alisha Long.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1301 Century Drive, Wasilla, AK 99687.
