Memorial Day is Monday, May 27. There are numerous events scheduled across the Mat-Su Valley centered around the annual holiday.
The public is invited to attend the 2024 Memorial Day ceremony held at the Mat-Su Veterans Wall of Honor Monday, May 27 at 1 p.m. This annual ceremony is designed to honor the men and women who died serving their country. The Mat-Su Veterans Wall of Honor is located in front of the Wasilla Police Department off Wasilla-Fishhook Road in downtown Wasilla.
American Legion Post 15 is meeting at the Palmer Pioneer Cemetery at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27 for a ceremony honoring the sacrifices of U.S. military members. Ceremonies will continue to the Old Glenn Highway bridge and conclude at the Butte Cemetery. American Legion post members and visitors will also make their way to Wasilla for the annual Memorial Day ceremony at the Mat-Su Veterans Wall of Honor. Post 15 is holding a barbecue potluck around 2 p.m. after the Wall of Honor ceremony.

VFW Post 9365 will be meeting at the Mat-Su Veterans Wall of Honor at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 27 to prepare to walk to the Wasilla Aurora Cemetery for an annual ceremony where a ceremony will be held by post officers and the auxiliary president that honors U.S. military members’ sacrifices. Following the cemetery ceremony, VFW post members and visitors will return to the Wall of Honor for the annual Memorial Day ceremony.
