Michael Ryan Griggs, affectionately known as Mike, passed away on March 23rd, 2024, at the age of 44 in his hometown of Wasilla Alaska.

Mike was born to Cindy and Gordon Griggs on September 18, 1979, in Sumpter South Carolina. Although born a healthy weight at 9lbs, 1oz, he struggled with infantile asthma, but after a 2 week stay in the hospital, was good to go on our journey to Europe, landing for a 2 year stay in Izmir, Turkey, returning to the states and then on to Alaska. Mike lived and grew up in Wasilla

Mike entered kindergarten in Wasilla and advanced through to high school. He was a graduate of Wasilla High School, class of 1998. Mike excelled in both academics and athletics up to varsity football and baseball in high school. Through his sports Mike made many lifelong friendships and grew into adulthood with them. All his friends, past and present, were very dear to him.

After a few career choices that weren’t the right fit, Mike touched down at the Wasilla Alaska Club. He rose through the ranks to management, with the specialty of building engineer. This position required Mike to not only take care of his home club, but to travel throughout the state when his expertise was required in other locations. He was very dedicated for years doing the very best at his position and helping his co-workers.

Mike is survived by his parents, Cindy and Gordon Griggs, sisters Farah Griggs and Heather Hull and brother-in-law Daniel Hull. Also mourning his loss are his nephews and nieces, Justin, Jordan, Hailey, Josie, and Gunnar. We also cannot forget his beloved pup, Auggy.

A Celebration of Life to honor Mike will be held on April 27th, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Wasilla Alaska Club, 1700 East Parks Hwy. A Potluck to follow. All are welcome to attend.

Mike will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His spirit, characterized by generosity, warmth, and a genuine love for life, will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all the lives he touched. His memory will continue to be a beacon of warmth and joy for all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
