Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Michele Lee McClure, 34, of Wasilla passed away Dec. 3, 2003, at the University of Washington Medical Center. She was born Nov. 1, 1969, in Bozeman, Mont. She and her husband Smokey married April 11, 1998, and moved to Alaska shortly after.
Mrs. McClure was currently employed at Wasilla Soil and Water Conservation District as district coordinator. She educated the community and schools on proper conservation of natural resources through training program. She enjoyed all of Alaska's resources through hunting, fishing, hiking and training her three labs, Griz, Duke and Nellie.
Recently, she dedicated her life to God and was baptized and became a member of Wasilla Christian Church. A celebration of her life will be held Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. at Wasilla Christian Church, Mile 2.5 Knik-Goose Bay Road. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Memorial Michele McClure at Matanuska Valley Federal Credit Union, no. 71645 MC.
Her family wrote, "This fund will be dedicated to continuing education for the beautiful natural resources of Alaska that God has provided and Michele loved so much."
Mrs. McClure is survived by spouse Smokey McClure of Wasilla; parents Ed and Diane Thomas of Belgrade, Mont., aunt Kay Tippit of Creston, Wash., cousins Nicki Malatare of Spokane, Wash. and Wendy Bantz of Helena, Wash.; special friends Greg and Cheryl Bailey of Wasilla; and family and friends in Montana.
