Mildred Janet Marple, 84, of Boise, Idaho, died July 24, 2004, at her home. Friends are welcome to attend the graveside service on Wednesday at 10 a.m., at Dry Creek Cemetery, 9600 Hill Road, in Boise. Pastor Paul Brilla will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Marple was born in North Dakota, and moved to Oaksdale, Wash., where she met her husband, Theodore Vern Marple.
As a young mother she and her husband moved their family to the Matanuska Valley, where they survived the famous 1964 earthquake, moose loitering at their doorsteps and living in the land of the midnight sun.
She was proud of her work at the Alaska Agricultural Experimental Station. She was the loving mother of four children. When the couple retired, they moved to Spokane, Wash., and wintered in Arizona.
All of the family enjoyed the trips to the Palouse farmland to watch the Marple family wheat grow. She really appreciated the diligent efforts of the Pfaffs, who farmed the land for many years.
In 1995, their children encouraged them to move to Boise, where they continued to receive loving support from local and out-of-state family. Mrs. Marple was an avid Bible reader and enjoyed sharing her faith with others. She was a member of the Pierce Park Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Irene Boese, and brother, Cliff Thorson. She is survived by her sister, Helen Frye, of Moscow, Idaho; daughter, Sharon Brilla, and her husband, Paul, of Camano Island, Wash.; daughter, Susan Bolen, and her husband, Richard; son, Ron Marple, and his wife, Julie; and daughter, Julie Walton, and her husband, Murry, all of Boise; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Deal of Spokane, Wash., Nathan Walton of Boston, Richelle Voglewede, Amy Storkson, Aaron Bolen, Erik Marple and Luke Walton, all of Boise; and four great-grandchildren: Kameron Deal of Spokane, Wash., and Madison, Morgan and Mariah Bolen of Denver/Boise.
Arrangements were handled by Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise.
