CHUGIAK — All memory of the Mat-Su Miners’ loss against the Chinooks Sunday was forgotten with Wednesday’s game.

Mat-Su improved to 13-4 in Alaska Baseball League play, and extended its North Division lead to 4.5 games over the Chinooks. The Miners also improved to 8-1 this season against the Chugiak club.

Harrington scattered three hits and an earned run over 6 1/3 innings. He also fanned two and lowered his season earned run average to 1.93.

Nishioka led the Miners at the plate, finishing 3 for 4 with three RBI and a run scored. Nyles Nygaard added two hits in the victory, and scored twice. J.J. Hancock also had a pair of hits for the Miners.

Nishioka is now hitting .441 for the Miners.

Mat-Su also played in Anchorage against the Bucs Thursday night, but results were not available prior to Frontiersman press time.

Saturday, the Miners start a four-game homestand that features two against the Panners, two against the Bucs and a fifth game against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots.
