PALMER — The rains have washed away the Mat-Su Miners once again.
Wednesday's regularly scheduled contest against AIA has been rained out, and a game suspended and postponed by rain on Tuesday have both been moved to Friday, and will be part of a doubleheader at Hermon Brothers Field.
The Mat-Su Miners and AIA Fire were tied at 2-2 in the top of the seventh inning when game officials were forced to suspend action because of heavy rains on Tuesday. That game will be finished Friday at 3 p.m. Wednesday's rain-out will now be played Friday at 5 p.m. at Hermon Brothers. The second game of the doubleheader will be just seven innings, as opposed to the normal nine-inning contest, Mat-Su general manager Pete Christopher said on Wednesday afternoon.
Friday will also mark the Napa Food Drive Day at the Park and fans can bring two cans of food in lieu of paid admission.
The Miners are also scheduled to host the Anchorage Glacier Pilots at 6 p.m. on Thursday, and the Anchorage Bucs in a doubleheader on Saturday. At 3 p.m. Miners and Bucs will finish a game that was suspended by darkness on July 15. The teams were tied at 3-3 in the 13th inning. A nine-inning game will follow at 6 p.m.
