A handful of Mat-Su Miners have been recognized by the Alaska Baseball League.
Infielder Chase Wilcox, outfielder Drake Kerr, starting pitcher Jack Hostetler and relief pitcher Drew Koenen were each named to All-ABL first team.
Wilcox leads the league with a .350 batting average in 36 games played. Wilcox led the Miners with 43 hits and was among team leaders with 20 RBI and 19 walks. He was also third in the ABL with 17 stolen bases. The Liberty, Missouri native is a redshirt freshman at Central Missouri.
Kerr led the ABL with 23 stolen bases in 37 games. He also hit .276 with 37 hits and 17 RBI. Kerr recently completed his junior season at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Hostetler made eight appearances and three starts during the summer. He was 3-2 with a 1.41 earned run average, and 37 strikeouts over 32 innings pitched. The Encinitas, California, pitched three seasons with Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, and has since signed with the Milwaukee Brewers organization.
Koenen led the league with nine saves, and did not allow an earned run in 16 innings of work. He also fanned 17.
Miners infielder Dom Patrizi was named to the second team. Patrizi was second in the league with 22 RBI. He was also among team leaders with 35 hits and 19 walks.
Cole Carlon of the Anchorage Bucs was named the ABL Player of the Year and the league’s top prospect. Peninsula Oilers shortstop Petey Soto earned the ABL Gold Glove, and his Oilers teammate, Colin Robson, was named the league’s Silver Slugger.
