PALMER – With a split of a doubleheader against the Alaska Goldpanners on Friday, the Mat-Su Miners now need to sweep Saturday’s double dip against the Panners to claim their second straight Alaska Baseball League title.
The Panners used a 4-1 win on Game 2 to move within one victory of the league crown. Mat-Su posted a 5-2 win in the first game to stay alive in the race for the title.
Alaska stands at 30-13 and Mat-Su is at 29-14.
The teams meet again Saturday at 3 and 6 p.m.
