PALMER — The Mat-Su Miners earned their Alaska Baseball League-high seventh win with a 3-1 victory over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots at Hermon Brothers Field Saturday night.
Four pitchers combined to throw a three-hitter and help the Miners improve to 7-2 in ABL play. University of Washington freshman Jeff Gonzales made the start and pitched six strong innings. Gonzales allowed three hits and one unearned run.
Lefty Mark Anderson scored the victory in relief, pitching a scoreless eighth inning. Matt Applegate grabbed his first save of the season.
Adam Martin drove in a pair of runs during the win. Seven different Miners recorded hits. Mat-Su also drew three walks.
