PALMER — With the effort of a pair of Valley products on the mound and the work of Dayne Wunderlich at the plate, the Mat-Su Miners scored a 6-5 win over the San Francisco Seals in nonleague action at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer Wednesday night.
Wunderlich singled in the bottom of the eighth to drive in pinch-runner Paul Panaccione to provide the go-ahead run for the Miners. Panaccione came into the game for designated hitter Josh Meyer, who led off the inning with a double.
Colony High graduate Jonathon Boyer and Wasilla High graduate Josh Grissom combined for five innings of work. Boyer made the start, allowing six hits and two runs in four innings. Boyer left the game with the contest tied at 2. Grissom pitched the eighth. He allowed two hits and one run, and notched a strikeout. He earned his first win of the summer.
Vince Arobio pitched the ninth to get the save.
Mat-Su finished with 10 hits in the win, the Miners’ third straight. Wunderlich finished 3 for 4 with two runs and an RBI. Cameron Newell was 2 for 3. Terrence Connelly also had two hits.
Cameron Frost walked three times and scored two runs.
