PALMER — Kyler Bush continued his strong summer on the mound Friday night.

The Washington State lefty pitched seven strong innings and led the Mat-Su Miners to an 8-2 win over the Anchorage Bucs during a sunny night at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer.

Bush scattered six hits and two earned runs over seven innings. He fanned four and didn’t walk a batter. Bush, who boasts a 1.56 earned run average, improved to 2-0. Both of his wins have come over the Bucs. He tossed a no-hitter against Anchorage on June 13.

Drew Williamson enjoyed his best night at the plate as a member of the Mat-Su Miners. The Alabama freshman finished 4 of 5, with three RBI and a run scored. Justin Kirby cracked his fourth home run of the summer. Ricky Martinez and Collin Montez drove in two runs each. Aaron Walters and Kody Huff scored two runs each.

The Miners improved to 12-8 with the win.

Mat-Su did the bulk of its damage in the third inning. Kirby led off the third with a home run. Martinez drew a bases loaded walk that pushed Huff across the plate. Williamson and Palmer later scored on a Montez double.

The Miners jumped to an early lead, scoring twice in the first. Williamson gave Mat-Su its first lead with a two-run double that scored Walters and Coby Boulware.
