PALMER — The Mat-Su Miners used three runs in the fifth to score a 5-3 win over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in the second game of a doubleheader Friday night in Anchorage.
Mat-Su (2-1) used the come-from-behind victory to force the Friday night split. Earlier in the evening, Anchorage posted a 5-1 win.
With the Miners trailing 2-0, Mat-Su’s Austin Pinorini sparked his squad with a lead-off single in the fifth. Danny Wright followed with another single, and both runners scored when Tyler Bosetti reached on an error.
Bosetti gave the Miners the 3-2 lead when he scored on a Drew Swift sacrifice fly. Swift and Kona Quiggle also scored for the Miners.
Mat-Su used five pitchers in the win. Josh Haley worked 1 1/3 innings of relief and earned the win on the mound. Nathan Bock recorded the save.
Earlier in the day, the Pilots scored five times in the second in a 5-1 win over Mat-Su. Connor Denning scored the lone run for the Miners.
Mat-Su returns home to host the Pilots in a doubleheader Sunday at 4 p.m. at Hermon Brothers Field.
