The Mat-Su Miners are 2-2 in Alaska Baseball League play following a two-game series split with the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in Anchorage this week.
The Miners improved to 2-1 in ABL play with a 6-4 win over the Pilots on Tuesday. Mat-Su scored three runs in the top of the sixth inning to break a 2-2 tie. Billy Munich, Matt Edwards and Josh Satin each drove in runs in the inning to break open the game for the Miners.
Brett Bigler, John Hester and Clayton Carson also drove in runs for the Miners.
Jeff Gilmore pitched three innings of relief and earned the win. The Stanford product struck out five hitters and allowed just one run.
The Pilots salvaged the two-game split with a 3-2 win on Wednesday. Tito Cruz drove in the winning run in the 12th inning to give Anchorage the win.
Down 2-1 late in the contest, Satin tripled and scored on an error to tie the game in the top of the seventh.
In a duel of starting pitchers on Monday, the Miners earned a 2-1 win over the Anchorage Bucs at Hermon Brothers Field. Chris Mason allowed just one run over seven innings to earn the win and Matt Manship pitched two scoreless innings to notch the save. Mat-Su returns home to face the Bucs tonight.
