PALMER — The pitching staff continues to come through for the Alaska Baseball League-leading Mat-Su Miners.
The staff extended its scoreless streak to 22 innings with a 3-0 win over the Anchorage Bucs Tuesday night at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer.
Four pitchers combined to toss Mat-Su’s second shutout in as many nights. Josh Haley threw six scoreless, scattering six hits and fanning five. Relievers Denver McQuary, Malachi Emond and Bryce Tassin tossed a scoreless inning each. Tassin recorded his sixth save of the summer. Mat-Su, which leads the ABL with a 2.51 earned run average, blanked Chugiak 6-0 Monday.
Austin Pinorini, Caleb Van Blake and Hunter Jump drove in runs for the Miners. Kona Quiggle, Spencer Henson and Drew Swift scored runs. Quiggle and Josh Hatcher led Mat-Su with two hits each.
Mat-Su is now 16-9 overall.
