The Mat-Su Miners scored another big win over the Anchorage Bucs. Mat-Su blasted the Bucs 10-2 Sunday afternoon at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer.
Alex Vergara hit his first two home runs of the summer and Blake Avila went deep for the fourth time this season during the win. Avilia knocked a two-run shot over the wall to give the Miners a 9-2 lead in the sixth. Vergara hit a pair of solo homers.
The Miners lead the Alaska Baseball League with 11 home runs.
Mat-Su also improved to a league-best 14-4.
Michael Yates earned the win on the mound for the Miners, scattering six hits and an earned run over six innings. Yates fanned seven and walked two.
Five different Miners finished with two hits each, and three scored two runs each.
Chugiak blanked the Miners 4-0 on Saturday. Vergara and Brandon Heidal had two hits each.
