Minister preached hate

To the editor:

I can not let the Antichrist article by Ron Hamman go unanswered because it promotes hatred of gay people by supposing that an Antichrist (the ultimate evil one) would be a homosexual.

Since many of the books of the Bible were written in Aramaic, and in the context of family values 2,000 years ago, can anyone who does not speak Aramaic be sure they understand all of the meanings of Biblical literature?

When Lot offered his virgin daughters to the men of Sodom, did that demonstrate wholesome family values?

Mr. Hamman quoted Paul from Romans 1, and then said “in effect, there is no greater sin against God than to reject how he made you…” Many gay people rightfully feel that since they were born gay, it would be wrong to try to pretend to live a lie of heterosexuality.

Does Mr. Herman feel that the phrase “Neither shall he (Antichrist) regard … the desire of women” means Jesus himself could be considered an antiChrist, since it was not written that he desired women?

Above all, the word sodomy means forced sex, or rape. Mutual love (whether gay or straight) is not rape. Love is a force for good. I personally don’t feel it’s necessary to judge which love is better.

I would encourage people, whether they believe in a specific religion or not, to focus on how to be positive influences on each other. Hate is not a family value.
