Age 95, passed away in Palmer on Sunday, December 16th while surrounded by family at the bedside.
Miriam was born in Egeland, North Dakota to William and Hilda Rasmussen. Miriam was the seventh of eight children. She remembers the difficulty of the great depression forcing the family to move to Los Angeles in search of work. She met her husband, Delbert Johnson, and together they moved to Oregon to farm and raise a family. The family was engaged in church activities and relied on that support after the tragic loss of their son at 15. Miriam and Delbert took joy in writing and creating songs to share their faith with others. She continued her adventure by moving to Alaska in 2010 to live with her daughter and be closer to family. Services will be held January 4th in Eugene, Oregon.
Miriam was preceded in death by her husband Delbert, her son David, parents William and Hilda, brothers Vernon, Wallace, Herman, Evan, and James, and sisters Leona and Norma. She is survived by her daughter Nanette (LaMarr) Anderson of Palmer, grandchildren Gregory (Melanie) Anderson of Philadelphia, Kimberly (Joseph) Seaboalt of Wasilla, Jeffrey (Angelina) Anderson of Wasilla, Christopher (Emily) Anderson of Palmer, and great-grandchildren Wyatt, Colton, Emily, Morgan, Turner, Marcus, Amelia, Madison, Gus, and Rasmus. There are numerous other uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews that cannot all be mentioned here.
Miriam was supported in her final years by Psalm 23, as she waited her time to meet the Lord and be reunited with her husband and son in heaven. We will always love and remember you “Ma”.
