A scary situation ended with a happy outcome at Matanuska Lake Saturday.
The Alaska State Troopers received a report of a missing 8-year-old boy at the Matanuska Lake State Recreation Area just before 7 p.m. Saturday. The boy was last seen playing near the shore. The Alaska State Troopers were among multiple agencies to report to the scene. At about 9:30 p.m. that night searchers with the Gannett Glacier Fire Crew located the boy about two miles from the original location. The missing boy had wandered down a trail and became separated from an older juvenile he was originally with, troopers said. The juvenile was returned to his family with no injuries.
